Acucraft Design Engineer

 Position Overview – Design Engineer

The Design Engineer is an integral part of the Engineering Team at Acucraft, working closely with both Engineering Services & The Production Teams. As a Design Engineer you will get to take customer dreams and turn them into reality! Part of the responsibilities will be to create complete CAD models (using SolidWorks), all required part drawings, improving manufacturability and efficiencies as well as providing support to the Production Teams throughout the process. Previous knowledge of the manufacturing process will be a plus (Shear, Press Brake, Laser/Plasma tables, Welding).

Duties + Responsibilities

  • Work closely with customers in a professional manner.
  • Design custom fireplaces from customer provided guidelines.
  • Provide manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by reviewing product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, materials, outsourced material vendors, and feedback from operators.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing designs and provide DFM (Design for Manufacturing) suggestions.
  • Inspect and validate outsourced parts and materials.
  • Manage customer expectations and timelines for design release.
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

Required Experience + Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a sheet metal environment.
  • Must have a strong knowledge of SolidWorks.
  • Experience with CAM software, a bonus.
  • Sound understanding of Microsoft Office products including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Physical Requirements + Work Environment

  • Your time will be shared between an office environment and time on the production floor.
  • Ability to push, pull and lift up to 50lbs.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills providing clear direction and feedback to office and production employees.

Reports to: Director of Engineering, Technical Support

Schedule: Full Time, Monday-Friday

Location: Big Lake, MN

Compensation: $60,000-$75,000 DOE
